Nature of Work
This is skilled computerized and manual work in the design and lettering of signs, posters, show cards and various pictorial displays that will appear throughout the entire City of Miami Beach.
Work involves the use of computer program, freehand lettering, stencils, and other sign making processes.
Employee must create and interpret drawings and sketches.
Maintain records of supplies used in daily work; inform supervisor of materials inventory.
Employee must track and is responsible for maintaining documents requesting signs, materials, drawings and sketches.
Employee is responsible for the accurate and detailed completion of all street signs throughout the entire City.
Illustrative Examples of Essential Duties
Designs, creates, and assembles computer-generated signs, posters, show cards, and various pictorial displays.
Creates, interprets and modifies original drawings and sketches.
Designs, creates and modifies signs using freehand lettering or other sign making procedures.
Maintains a neat and organized work area including receiving and stocking all sign making supplies and materials.
Prepares and maintains sign log, materials log and any reports that are necessary.
Answers telephones, takes sign order/requests, tracks them and makes sure that all signs are made in a timely manner and accurately.
Performs related work as required.
Minimum Requirements
Six (6) months experience with a computer sign making software.
Six (6) months experience in the creation, interpretation and modification of designs and sketches.
Six (6) months experience working in a fast paced and stressful environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact.
Physical capacity to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as but not limited to, a computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
Significant standing, walking, moving, reaching, handling, carrying, kneeling, pushing, pulling and bending; no significant crawling, climbing, and sitting.
MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO LIFT 100 POUND SIGN MAKING SHEETS.

Reports to work as directed during an emergency as an essential employee of the City of Miami Beach
