Work in exchange for reduced rent/place to live- $400

I can pay $400/month.
But for the rest of December-Jan.
2nd, I can only work around the house in lieu of rent.
I'll have money on Jan.
3rd but please don't ask me then for a deposit on top of the $400.

Looking for an a room (private but shared bathroom's ok) to live in in exchange for work.
Don't want to go into too much detail here but I recently got out of an abusive relationship with my ex that isolated me and left me dependent on him.
I'm looking to get my life back together which starts with a stable job and a place to live.
