A teacher is responsible for the care, development and teaching of all children enrolled in the Overtown Youth Center.
The teacher will Plan, supervise, and implement daily curriculum for students of various ages in a classroom setting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as a liaison between DCPS and the Overtown Youth Center.
Ability to teach all subject area.
Responsibilities include planning and implementing classroom activities, and preparing lesson plans and various developmental activities for students in the program.
Ability to work well with at risk youth, writing skills and computer literacy required.
Document the work of the students and keep statistics on overall student development (attendance, test scores, graduation rates, accomplishments, etc.
)
Assist with field trips, exposure trips when necessary.
Coordinate services with other professionals and paraprofessionals.
Ability to ride the bus during dismissal.
Act as a liaison with the schools that we service.
Build relationships with Students.
Participate in the quality improvement process.
Participate in weekly meeting with lead teacher.
Actively participate in staff development workshops and trainings that are designed to contribute to personal and professional growth.

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Teacher Certificate
Bachelor’s Degree required in education or related field.
A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience working with youth programs required Basic computer skills/ Microsoft Office

Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Must pass drug screening and Level 2 background fingerprint
