Our vibrant and enriching summer camp seeks a dedicated and experienced Reading Specialist for the upcoming summer season, from June 1 to August 15, 2024.
This role is pivotal in shaping the reading skills and love for literature among camp participants.
The Reading Specialist will lead the charge in assessing, planning, and enhancing our reading curriculum, ensuring each child receives tailored, engaging, and effective instruction.
Key Responsibilities:
* Analyze participant data to inform instruction decisions.
* Administer accurate pre and post-tests to gauge program effectiveness.
* Select and adapt reading curriculum materials to meet the diverse needs of campers.
* Train and supervise staff in delivering high-impact reading instruction in small group settings.
* Lead small group reading sessions, creating a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
* Develop and implement differentiated reading instruction to cater to the varying levels of learners.
* Continuously monitor progress and make instructional adjustments as necessary.
* Collaboratively plan and oversee the reading instruction component of the summer camp, providing support and guidance to other teachers.
Qualifications:
* Must hold a current certification as a Reading Specialist.
* A minimum of 3 years of experience working as a reading coach or in a similar capacity.
* Possession of a valid Florida Teaching Certificate.
* Proven experience in analyzing educational data and applying findings to improve reading programs.
* Demonstrated ability in administering assessments and evaluating reading levels.
* Strong background in selecting reading curricula and materials, as well as in training staff to deliver effective instruction.
* Experienced in leading small groups and creating differentiated learning plans.
* Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Position Details:
* Dates: June 1 - August 15, 2024
* Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM
* Maximum of 22 hours per week
* This is a contract position.
* Compensation: $45 per hour
